Singapore’s LTA has awarded a SGD 498 million contract to a JV comprising Japan-based Penta-Ocean Construction Company Limited and Bachy Soletanche Singapore Private Limited to construct the Orchard station and the associated tunnels on the Thomson Line of the MRT system. The construction is scheduled for completion in December 2020. The 30 km north–south Thomson Line will connect Woodlands North to the CBD and Marina Bay, covering 22 stations. It will have six interchange stations linking the East and West, the North and South, and the Circle and Downtown lines. The project will be implemented in three phases and is expected to serve 400,000 passengers daily by 2021.
