Singapore LNG Corporation’s new LNG terminal on Jurong Island has received its first commercial cargo. It will be equipped with two storage tanks and jetties, and will have an initial throughput capacity of 3.5 mt per year. The first two tanks with regasification facilities have been completed, while the company plans to build the third tank by endend-2013. With this, the terminal capacity will increase to 6 mt. The S$2.1 billion terminal was planned in 2006 and construction started in 2010. Singapore LNG Corporation had earlier announced that by 2017 the company would expand the throughput capacity of Jurong LNG terminal to 9 mt a year.
