HSBC appointed Lim Eng Seong as deputy CEO of HSBC, Malaysia, on July 1, 2019. Seong has succeeded James Gossip who retired after an eight-year stint with the bank. He joined HSBC in 2007 and in his 12 years with the group, he has worked both in Malaysia and Hong Kong. He was Malaysia’s country head of retail banking and wealth management and most recently, was in Hong Kong working in commercial banking. Seong brings a deep understanding of the Malaysian market, both from his time with HSBC as well with a large FMCG company, where he worked for 12 years across ASEAN countries before joining HSBC.
