The Singapore Land Transport Authority has awarded an AUD 329 million contract to a JV of Leighton Asia, India and Offshore and Australia-based John Holland to provide civil engineering services for the 30 km underground railway. The Thomson Line will comprise 22 stations and six interchanges. The JV will build the Springleaf station and the 2 km stretch of a twin-bore tunnel. Construction is expected to begin in 2013 and should be completed by 2020.
