The 600 MW Monsoon wind power project in Laos has entered its final construction phases, with plans to begin exporting electricity to Vietnam soon, according to Monsoon Wind Power.
The USD950 million project, located in Sekong and Attapeu provinces, will transmit 300 MW to Vietnam in the next quarter, scaling up to 600 MW by Q3 2025, with aspirations to reach 1,000 MW. A 500 kV double circuit connection linking Laos and Vietnam has been activated, marking a milestone for cross-border clean energy transmission. The consortium behind the project includes stakeholders from Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, and other nations, with EVN securing a 25-year power purchase agreement.
