The Lao government will spend over 68 trillion kip on the construction and improvement of main roads across the country. Of the total investment envisaged, the majority will be used for the construction of new roads, while about 1.8 trillion kip will be allocated to maintenance works. The roads to be taken up under the plan will provide linkages to the industrial development zones, the special economic zone, border areas, and the economic corridor. These roads include national roads NR3, 1A, 8, 9, 12, 13S, 1D, 1E, 1F, 1G, 1H, 1I, 1J, 15 (A, B), 16 (A, B), and 18 (A, B).
