The Land Transport Authority (LTA) won the Geospatial World Excellence Award 2013 – Transportation Management award for its innovative use of geospatial technology in the planning, development, and management of land transport under its GIS@LTA project. LTA is the first government agency in Singapore to win this award and the second in Asia, after Taipei City that won the award in 2011. The Geospatial World Excellence Awards recognise excellence in best practices, innovations, and policies, that have helped shape the future of the geospatial industry and innovations in the global geospatial industry.

The LTA also won another international award – the UITP’s Grow with Public Transport award for the design of the Marina Bay Station at the Circle line of the mass rapid transit system in the country. The award was announced at the International Association of Public Transport [UITP] World Congress and Exhibition held in Geneva recently. The station received recognition for its unique design that blends into its surroundings. Further, the LTA’s mobile application, MyTransport.SG – Your One-Stop Integrated Transport Companion, also bagged an award in the Integrated Mobility Innovation category, beating two other finalists – Daimler AG, Germany, and Transport for London, UK.
