The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has agreed to provide $2.04 million to conduct the feasibility study for the development of monorail Line 2 in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam. The study will commence in June 2019 and is planned to be completed by May 2020.

Line 2 will span 27 km from National Highway 50 to the Binh Quoi urban area. A depot will be built in Phong Phu ward, Binh Chanh district. Six-car driverless electric trains will be deployed. The trains will have a speed of 30-70 km per hour and will accommodate 316 passengers. In May 2017, an MoU was signed between HCMC and South Korea’s Busan City to develop the project.
