The Korean Exim Bank, in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will provide 3,288.77 billion kip (1 kip [Laos kip] = $0.0001) to develop a hydroelectric power plant in Lao PDR; electricity generated by the power project will also be supplied to Thailand. As part of the financing deal, Korean companies such as SK Engineering and Construction and Korea Western Power have been selected as contractors for the project. The 410 MW Sapien–Senamnoi hydroelectric project, estimated to cost 7,830 billion kip, will be situated on a Mekong tributary. Of this amount, the Korea Exim Bank will provide 571.62 billion kip to the Lao government, with ADB supplying 2,740.64 billion kip.
