Komatsu has announced the first full-scale deployment of its Smart Construction digital platform in Singapore, supporting the development of Changi Airport Terminal 5 (T5).
The deployment includes 3D Machine Guidance, 3D Machine Guidance Flex and the SC Dashboard, enabling real-time earthwork monitoring, equipment integration and data-driven construction management to improve productivity, operational efficiency and decision-making throughout the project.
Construction of Terminal 5 began in May 2025 and is scheduled for completion in the mid-2030s. The project covers approximately 1,080 hectares and is expected to accommodate 50 million passengers annually in its initial phase, with expansion capacity of up to 70 million passengers.
Komatsu has supplied construction equipment for the project and is working with its subsidiary EARTHBRAIN Ltd. to implement Smart Construction solutions that support the digital transformation of construction operations. Globally, Komatsu has deployed more than 9,000 units of 3D Machine Guidance systems and over 22,000 intelligent Machine Control (iMC) machines. The Singapore deployment is expected to accelerate the adoption of digital construction technologies across the country and contribute to broader digitalisation efforts in Asia’s infrastructure sector.
