The Aerotrain system at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 will resume full 24-hour operations from June 1, 2026, following the completion of a Comprehensive Action Plan implemented by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) in coordination with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD). The resumption follows a series of inspections, testing programmes and operational trials designed to improve system reliability and service performance.

The Comprehensive Action Plan, launched in November 2025, was carried out in three phases covering inspection and rectification works, system testing and validation, and trial operations. According to the Ministry of Transport, the programme included 24-hour and 48-hour endurance tests under both passenger and non-passenger operating conditions. Since January 2026, the Aerotrain has reportedly achieved 100% operational service availability. Daily engineering and maintenance activities will continue between midnight and 5:00 a.m., during which a single train will remain in operation to maintain passenger service.

The programme was led by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd with support from contractors Alstom and the IJMC–Pestech joint venture, alongside project consultants and independent technical assessors. The Aerotrain serves as the primary people-mover system linking key facilities within KLIA Terminal 1 and its return to full operations is expected to enhance passenger connectivity and airport service efficiency.
