Kertajati airport in West Java is scheduled for completion by 2017 at a cost of Rp 3.7 trillion. Construction of the 3,000-metre runway and the monitoring tower will cost around Rp 1.6 trillion, and the terminal and other facilities will cost around Rp 2.1 trillion. The Ministry of Transportation will finance the construction of the airport, while the West Java administration will pay for the clearing of 1,800 hectares of land; 1,000 hectares has already been cleared. Once completed, the airport will have a passenger handling capacity of 810 million passengers per annum in the first phase.
