Keppel Energy Nexus has announced plans to pilot a membrane-based nearshore floating solar photovoltaic (PV) system at Jurong Island in Singapore. This is set to be the first of its kind of renewable system in the country. The company has also secured a grant for the project from the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and JTC Corporation (JTC). The pilot run is scheduled to be completed in Q4 2023.

The PV system will have an installed capacity of 1.5 MWp. The membranes will be protected by a high-density polyethylene pipe structure, allowing Keppel to generate solar energy even during harsh sea conditions.
