The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has awarded a PHP24 billion contract to a joint venture (JV) comprising First Balfour Incorporated and Leighton Asia to build a rail tunnel in the Philippines. Works under the Contract Package (CP) S-03B will include the construction of a tunnel linking the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) with the Metro Manila Subway.
The companies will also build a 4.7-km-long underground rail, 1.7-km-long at-grade rail and NSCR’s FTI station which will be linked with the Subway’s Senate station. The JV has 2,160 calendar days to deliver the work.
DOTr is expected to award CP S-03A, covering the Manila to Taguig line, and CP S-03C, covering the section between Parañaque to Muntinlupa, in March 2023. CP 108, covering the Lawton to Senate tranche where the subway will be linked to the NSCR, is yet to be awarded.
