The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) recorded RM88.83 billion (USD28.04 billion) in approved investments between January 2025 and June 2026, with 45 per cent of the projects having reached the implementation stage. The approved investments are associated with 28,755 potential jobs, including 12,796 linked to projects already implemented, according to a joint statement following the first meeting of the Johor-Singapore Cooperation Ministerial Committee.
Both countries reported progress in investment facilitation, cross-border connectivity, talent development and infrastructure coordination. Malaysia’s initiatives include developing Nexus Sedenak as an integrated industrial and supply chain hub, improving transport connectivity and strengthening financial services in Forest City. The JS-SEZ masterplan is expected to be released at the bilateral Leaders’ Retreat in December 2026. The two countries also plan to hold a joint investment forum by the first quarter of 2027, while the Johor-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link is scheduled to begin operations in February 2027.
