Johor Port Berhad (JPB), a member of the MMC Group has received the Global Business Leadership Award 2019 – Excellence in Port Facilities Management from the Asia Pacific Business Council for Sustainability and Institute of Sustainability. The award was presented to JPB in recognition of its performance and innovative ideas in the port industry. It also acknowledged JPB’s role in implementing the best practices in the organisation that have resulted in benefits for shareholders, employees and customers.
Additionally, the Global Business Leadership award has recognised Johar Port and other winners as the benchmarks and exemplar of business practices for other organisations in accordance to the Sustainability Development Goals. The awards event was held in conjunction with the 11th Asia Pacific CSR Council Forum themed “Advocating Sustainability as the New Normal for Business Growth.” The forum aims to promote corporate sustainability and corporate responsibility as a holistic approach for business development on a global scale.
Johor Port is a member of the MMC Group and is an integrated multi-purpose port facility located at the south-eastern tip of Malaysia. The port provides a comprehensive range of port services to meet the individual needs of its customers. Being a southern gateway, JPB has operates five terminals with 24 berths totalling 4.9 km and covers containers, bulk and break bulk activities. It is the first port in Johor which is designed as a multi-purpose port that caters to cargoes.
Being a multi-purpose port, the establishment of JP Logistics (JPL) owned subsidiary of Johor port was designed to handle not only the port’s internal haulage and storage needs, but also to provide logistics services to cater for clients across the country and in neighbouring Singapore and other regional ports.
The award recognises companies’ corporate sustainability efforts through continuous improvement in serving and helping the port industry and its community to grow in various ways.
