Malaysia’s Land Public Transport Commission and Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) have signed a bilateral agreement for the development of the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link (RTS link).

The agreement includes technical, safety and security requirements; commercial, financing and regulatory structures as well as immigration and quarantine arrangements.

A joint venture (JV) named RTS link is planned to be incorporated by June 2018; it will sign the concession agreement in September 2018. The JV will pay a concession fee to the two governments and secure the right to set fares and collect fare revenue.

The RTS link will connect the Bukit Chagar terminus station (Johor Bahru) to the Woodlands North terminus (Singapore). It is expected to carry up to 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction. Construction is scheduled to commence in 2019 and passenger service is expected to commence by end-December 2024.
