The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a bilateral aid agency, has completed the third phase of the Marawi Transcentral Road Project in the Philippines. The third phase of development included works on 19 km of road and was completed under an investment of PHP700 million. A full design study is also being conducted for the Marawi Ring Road.
This is part of a PHP888 million restoration and reconstruction project for Marawi and its surrounding areas. The project’s goal is to create and enhance access roads to arterial roads in Mindanao, boosting the area’s economic growth and aiding in peace initiatives. The JICA assistance is part of Japan’s official development assistance (ODA) for the Philippines and is in line with the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) which aims to rebuild Mindanao’s infrastructure and economy.
