The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has provided Japanese Yen 65 million worth of equipment to Indonesia to back the country’s plans of tapping energy from its geothermal resources. The equipment will be owned by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Indonesia, along with JICA, has identified 299 locations with a total geothermal potential of 29 GW. At present, its installed geothermal capacity is 1.34 GW. The Indonesian government is seeking to bolster its geothermal power capacity by 240 per cent to 4 GW in the next four years
