The Jakarta–Bandung high-speed railway, known as Whoosh and operated by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China, has handled over 15 million passenger trips, reflecting strong growth in ridership and service performance. The line has recorded a peak daily ridership of 26,770 passengers, with occupancy rates reaching up to 99.64 percent.
International usage is also increasing, with more than 760,000 trips made by foreign travellers, highlighting the railway’s role in boosting tourism and regional exchanges in Indonesia. The operator noted that the project has moved into a phase of rapid growth, with improvements in efficiency, service quality, and brand recognition since its launch.
Spanning 142.3 km, the railway operates at speeds of up to 350 km/h, reducing travel time between Jakarta and Bandung from over three hours to approximately 46 minutes. The service has enhanced regional connectivity and is contributing to coordinated economic development along the corridor.
Launched in October 2023, the project is a key example of China–Indonesia infrastructure cooperation and continues to demonstrate strong demand for high-speed rail in Southeast Asia.
