Internux’s Bolt Super 4G long term evolution (LTE) device received the “Global Excellence Award for Market Achievements” at the 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Bolt, a service brand offered by Internux, the first Indonesian internet access provider using 4G LTE technology, was awarded the Excellence Award for “Best Market Introduction of LTE Services and Successful Services” for its performance in 2014.

The award reflects Internux’s success in offering the 4G LTE service in Indonesia through its Bolt cellular modems. Internux announced in February 2015 that it had sold its Bolt devices to more than a million subscribers since the brand was launched a year ago. Internux aims to book 3 million subscribers in 2015.

The company plans to spend $18 million this year to build 600 additional base transceiver stations (BTSs) in its bid to strengthen its network capacity to reach more customers and launch its own voice services. The network operator currently has 2,900 BTSs serving Bolt users in the Greater Jakarta area, which includes the satellite cities of Bogor, Depok and Tangerang. Internux has a licence to operate in two zones – Greater Jakarta and North Sumatra.

In addition to its Bolt devices, the company also offers dual-SIM smartphones that use Bolt for 4G data connectivity and a second SIM for voice and text message communications. Bolt and GlobeAsia are both affiliated with the Lippo Group.
