Germany-based Baywa r.e. AG has completed installation works on a 2.83 MW floating solar farm in Thailand. The solar facility will supply renewable energy (RE) to Ubon Bio Ethanol Public Company Limited (UBE) under a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA).

The company has installed about 6,900 bifacial photovoltaic (PV) modules on two ponds in the Ubon Ratchathani province using two kinds of floating platform technologies. One uses a pure pontoon technology, while the other was deployed with a pontoon and metal support structure floating technology.

The solar panels are expected to produce 4,440 MWh of electricity in the first year of operation.
