The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has announced that infrastructure spending in the Philippines reached PHP78.9 billion in May 2022, a 26.2 per cent increase from the spending recorded in April 2022. Majority of this growth is due to increase in payments for the Malolos-Clark Railway Project and the Metro Manila Subway Project by the Department of Transportation (DoTr).

This trend is expected to continue in the upcoming months despite a change in the country’s administration.

In the five months of 2022, infrastructure and capital outlays spending reached PHP334.6 billion, similar to the spending of PHP332.3 billion during the same period in 2021.
