Indosat Ooredoo (Indosat) has announced the first commercial implementation of segment routing over IPv6 (SRv6) to assist the expansion of its 5G services in Indonesia. Indosat Ooredoo has appointed Cisco Systems Incorporated as its technology partner for upgrading its transport infrastructure into a programmable, 5G-ready network powered by IPv6 segment routing technology (SRv6) and Network Slicing.
This is a significant step for Indosat in constructing a scalable Next-Generation Programmable Transport Network, with automated operations provided by Software Defined Network (SDN) and SRv6’s intelligent segment routing functionalities.
