Indonesia’s Padang Minangkabau International airport is set to have a new terminal building ready in 2020. A soft launch has been targeted for February 2020 while full operations are expected to be commenced in September 2020. Upon the completion of the new building, airport operator Angkasa Pura II will commence work to combine the new building with that of the existing terminal to raise the airport’s annual handling capacity from 2.2 million passengers to 5.7 million. In addition to the new terminal building, Angkasa Pura II has increased the number of aircraft parking stands from 8 to 15 by expanding the apron space, which is now capable of handling aircraft up to the size of Boeing 747s and 777s.
