The Ministry of Transport (MOT) of Indonesia plans to deploy two million electric motorcycles across the country by 2025. There are currently 133 million internal combustion engine (ICE) two-wheelers in Indonesia, significantly contributing to the transport sector’s carbon emissions.

To achieve this target, the government will increase the production of electric batteries, installation of charging and battery swap stations as well as ensure the quality of the engine for the electric vehicles (EV).

Once the target is achieved, fuel subsidies will be reduced by around IDR502 trillion.
