Indonesia’s first wind power plant located in Sidrap district of South Sulawesi province will be inaugurated in March 2018. The plant is operated by UPC Sidrap Bayu Energy. It comprises 30 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.5 MW each, adding to a total capacity of 75 MW.  In addition, three other wind power plants are being developed in South Sulawesi province. These are Stage II of the Sidrap power plant, the Jeneponto power plant and the Tanah Laut power plant.

These plants are being developed as a part of Indonesia’s plan to promote new and renewable sources of energy, and increase the share of renewable energy in its energy mix to 23 per cent by 2025.
