Indonesian independent power producer PT Indika Energy has announced the commencement of commercial operations at its 660 MW coal-fired power plant located atCirebon,West Java. Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction built the plant at a cost of Rp 660 trillion in 40 months. PT Cirebon Electric Power, a subsidiary of Indika Energy, will be the operator of the plant. Electricity produced from the plant will be supplied to the regions of Bali and Java under a 30-year power sale purchase contract signed with the state-owned power utility PT PLN. Indika Energy is a JV of Japan’s Marubeni Corporation,Korea’s Samtan Company Limited, and the Korea Midland Power Company.
