Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation has completed a 110 MW geothermal power plant at Ulubelu on theislandofSumatra. The Indonesian state-owned construction company PT Rekayasa Industri was the civil contractor for the plant, whileJapan’s Fuji Electric Company supplied the steam turbines and generators. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provided a yen credit loan for the project. The project also involved the construction and expansion of a new 26 km power transmission line and three transformer stations.
