Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation has outlined specific airport projects in the provinces of Papua and West Papuaaimed at enhancing the connectivity of these regions. At Sentani airport, the runway will be expanded to 3,000 metres; in addition, a taxiway and a boarding bridge will be constructed. MoUs have also been signed to expand the runway at Sorong airport inWest Papuaand construct an alternative airport in Segun. Other airports to be developed in the provinces include those in Kaimana, Wamena, Manokwari, Merauke, Wagete Baru in Deiyai, and Tamanof.
