Indonesia has launched the auction phase for its 2.3GHz spectrum tender.
Earlier this year, five operators namely Smart Telecom (Smartfren) , Hutchison 3 Indonesia (Tri), Indosat Ooredoo, Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel) and XL Axiata, applied to bid for the 2360MHz-2390MHz spectrum. Out of these, three operators, including Smartfren, Telkomsel and XL Axiata were shortlisted on April 14, 2021 after an administrative review. The auction process began on April 19, 2021.
The Ministry of Communication and Information (MCI) had previously completed a selection process for 2.3GHz spectrum in December 2020, choosing Smartfren, Telkomsel and Tri as the winners. However, it reversed its decision and ended the procedure a month later.
