The Government of Indonesia has identified five strategic priorities for its transport sector: integrating transport connectivity and improving logistics efficiency; ensuring equitable access to affordable and reliable services, particularly in underdeveloped, outermost and border regions; improving transport safety and reliability through stricter regulatory enforcement, including measures against overdimensioning and overloading (ODOL); transitioning to low-carbon transport to support the country’s net-zero emissions target by 2060; and strengthening governance, regulations and financing.
Odo R.M. Manuhutu, deputy for connectivity coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, outlined the priorities at the 2026 Strategic Transport Issues Agenda-Setting event in Jakarta on October 22, 2026. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transportation’s Transportation Policy Agency is identifying priority challenges across land, sea, air and rail transport to develop evidence-based policy recommendations and improve coordination across transport modes.
