The Ministry of Transport (MOT) of Thailand and Malaysia have partnered to develop a high-speed rail (HSR) network across four Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries. The HSR route will link the countries of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Laos as well as China. The MOT of the two countries have agreed to establish a joint working panel to discuss plans for the proposed system.
A plan is expected to be presented at the next ASEAN meeting on transport issues.
