The Government of Ho Chi Minh City has temporarily narrowed the Dan Chu Roundabout to facilitate the construction of the Ben Thanh–Tham Luong Metro Line (Line 2) in Vietnam. The adjustment, located between Districts 3 and 10, allows space for the relocation of underground utilities — including electricity, water, and telecom lines — to prepare for the construction of the Dan Chu underground station.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR), the relocation work will be completed by the end of 2025, after which the roundabout will be restored. The intersection, which connects six major streets, had earlier been proposed for a steel overpass, but this has been deferred to align with the metro project’s progress.

Line 2 will span 11 km with nine underground and one elevated station, linking Ben Thanh in the city center to Tham Luong via key corridors such as Cach Mang Thang Tam and Truong Chinh. The project, valued at over VND47.8 trillion (USD2 billion), has been delayed to 2030. The city recently decided to replace German development bank KfW’s loan with domestic financing to prevent further delays.
