The Hanoi Urban Metro Rail Project’s board has signed new loan agreements with sponsors after the cost increased from $858 million to $2.2 billion for Metro Line 2. The delay in site clearance has been cited as one of the main reasons for the increased cost. Line 2 will span 11.54 km from Nam Thang Long to Tran Hung Dao. The project was approved in 2008 but is still awaiting implementation following the increase in costs.
