Grab has announced plans to triple its electric vehicle (EV) fleet in Indonesia by the end of 2026 through a new partnership with Wuling. Under the collaboration, Wuling’s New BinguoEV Lite will be introduced to GrabRentals, allowing driver-partners to lease electric vehicles instead of purchasing them outright. The initiative aims to accelerate EV adoption while supporting Indonesia’s growing electric mobility ecosystem.
Grab currently operates more than 14,000 electric vehicles across its Indonesian platform, including electric cars and motorcycles, and intends to expand this fleet threefold over the next 18 months. Through the leasing programme, Wuling will also provide vehicle maintenance, technical support and training for drivers and mechanics, helping reduce operating costs and improve fleet reliability.
The partnership supports Indonesia’s ambitions to strengthen its electric vehicle industry and leverage its position as a major producer of nickel for battery manufacturing. By expanding access to affordable electric vehicles for ride-hailing services, Grab and Wuling aim to reduce transport emissions, lower driver operating expenses and contribute to the country’s transition towards sustainable urban mobility.
