The Governments of Vietnam and China have signed 14 agreements for cross-border railways, trade, media, health, and agriculture. The agreements include planning and feasibility studies for standardised railway routes, with potential projects connecting Vietnam’s northwest to the port city of Haiphong and linking Shenzhen to Haiphong.

This infrastructure upgrade is expected to boost trade and investment, especially as more China-based manufacturers move operations to Vietnam. Additionally, the two sides also agreed to further cooperation between their central banks, including local currency settlements and cross-border payments.
