The Government of Singapore and Japan have announced plans to increase collaboration in areas such as digitalisation, innovation and the green economy, as well as infrastructure cooperation in other countries. The governments will capitalise the existing supply chains and promote digital transformation and infrastructure development.
Some of the major collaborative projects include the Government of Japan’s Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) programme and ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific, improving linkage for countries in the ASEAN region and maintaining trade agreement standards as mentioned in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
In 2021, Japan was one of Singapore’s top trading partners, and Singapore was one of the major markets for Japanese investments.
