The Indonesian government is planning to construct a new major port in Patimban, West Java, with a container capacity of 7.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) requiring a total investment of Rp 40 trillion. Construction of the first phase is expected to start in 2017 and be completed by 2019. The first phase will have a capacity of 1.5 million TEUs and accommodate 250,000 cars. Although Patimban port will be a state-owned port, the government is considering a loan from Japan at 0.01 per cent interest rate.
