The Government of Malaysia has announced plans to revamp and launch MSC Malaysia 2.0 (MSC 2.0) to boost the growth of the country’s digital economy. This move was finalised at the National Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) meeting to address existing gaps, current issues, and improve Malaysia’s value proposition in attracting more digital investment. As of December 2020, MSC Malaysia 1.0 assisted the country in achieving a total investment of more than RM384 billion and a revenue of RM588 billion.
This move is in line with the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP) released in September 2021 which focuses on increasing the rate of digitalisation. Under the 12MP, the Government of Malaysia will focus on developing an enabling environment for the digital economy’s growth and enhancing digital infrastructure and services.
