The Government of Malaysia aims to develop an ecosystem based on hydrogen energy by 2030, as outlined in the country’s Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR). The HETR is expected to generate an income of up to MYR12.1 billion and contribute between MYR49-61 billion to Malaysia’s GDP by 2030.
The government is focusing on developing the hydrogen energy ecosystem and value chain for vehicles, emphasising large-scale manufacturing and energy production to meet general demand. Further, this initiative is part of Malaysia’s broader strategy to achieve zero-carbon targets by 2050.
