The Government of Kedah will require funding of RM1.6 billion to develop and upgrade the internet infrastructure in the Malaysia state under the National Digital Network Plan (Jendela). Funds will be used to construct new towers under Phase I of Jendala, which are expected to be fully operational by end 2022. The towers will aid in the network migration from 3G to 4G in the state.
Additionally, multiple transmitter towers also need to be upgraded to support the deployment of 4G network services to the residents. Installation of point of presence (PoP) fibre optic facilities in residences as well as schools is also underway.
The government is also exploring the feasibility of deploying advanced technologies, including low earth orbit (LEO) satellites, for remote regions in Kedah.
