The Government of Cambodia is currently exploring the feasibility of upgrading and expanding the country’s existing rail routes from Phnom Penh to Preah Sihanouk and Phnom Penh to Poipet town.

The Government will also consider the possibility of building a rail line from Poipet to Siem Reap which will be extended to Kampong Thom and to Phnom Penh in the future. Other prospective projects include a route from Phnom Penh to Bavet town in the Svay Rieng province.

Works on key infrastructure projects in the country is expected to resume after a significant drop of COVID-19 related cases during December 2021.
