Gojek, a ride-hailing company, has partnered with Taiwan-based Gogoro, an electric scooter manufacturer and battery-swapping infrastructure provider, to launch a pilot project in Indonesia for the deployment of electric two-wheeler vehicles. The trial will commence in South Jakarta and will include the deployment of 250 Gogoro electric smart scooters and four battery-swapping stations. The trial will eventually be expanded to include 5,000 electric scooters and more battery swap stations.

For the pilot, the companies will rent the e-scooters to riders and commuters. Rental fee for the vehicles will include battery-charging costs and vehicle maintenance. The aim of the pilot project is to promote the spread of electric mobility in Indonesia as well as support the government’s goal of achieving net zero by 2030.
