India’s GMR Group, in a consortium with Megawide Construction Corporation of the Philippines, has emerged as the highest bidder for the development of the PhP 17.5 billion Mactan-Cebu International Airport expansion project. The consortium offered a premium bid of PhP 14.4 billion for the airport expansion project. The other six bidders that submitted financial bids were Filinvest-Cai consortium (PhP 13.99 billion); the San Miguel Group and Incheon Airport consortium (PhP 9 billion); the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation and JG Summit Holdings consortium (PhP 11.23 billion); the First Philippine Airports consortium (PhP 4.7 billion); the Premier Airport Group (PhP 12.5 billion); and the AAA consortium (PhP 11.09 billion). The Mactan-Cebu International Airport project involves the construction of a new international passenger terminal building with an annual capacity of 8 million passengers.
