India-based GMR Airports Limited (GAL), GMR Infrastructure’s wholly-owned subsidiary, will oversee the development and operations of Kualanamu International Airport (KNO) in Medan, the capital of Indonesia’s North Sumatra province. The final evaluation process for selecting a strategic partnership for Kualanamu International Airport has been concluded, and GMR Airports has been named the winning bidder by Angkasa Pura (AP2), a state-owned corporation and the bidding authority for the airport.
GAL and AP2 will enter a 49/51 partnership for the development of the airport project. The companies will operate, develop and expand the KNO over a period of 25 years. The letter of award (LoA) will be issued by the end of November 2021, after concluding post bid formalities.
