Globe Telecom has connected to the Southeast Asia–Japan cable system (SJC) after the international submarine cable system landed in Nasugbu, Batangas, in February 2013. The 8,900 km system with a design capacity of 15 terabits per second (Tbps) is being deployed by a consortium of Asian operators that include Globe Telecom, Brunei International Gateway, China Mobile, China Telecom, Donghwa Telecom, Google, KDDI, SingTel, Telekomunikasi Indonesia, and TOT. SJC links the Philippines to Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore, with plans to extend it to Thailand in the future.
