Garuda Indonesia won awards in two categories at the recently held international Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) 2014  Awards at Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It received the Gold Award for its Immigration on Board service in the Marketing – Carrier category, and the Garuda Indonesia Experience award in the Heritage and Culture category.

Immigration on Board is a special document handling service that issues visa on arrival on board Garuda Indonesia aircraft, carried out by immigration officers specifically stationed on board the flight to Jakarta. Currently, Garuda Indonesia offers the Immigration on Board service on several of its international routes, such as Shanghai–Jakarta, Tokyo (Narita)–Jakarta, Seou–Jakarta, Sydney–Jakarta, Tokyo (Narita)–Denpasar, Osaka–Denpasar, and Sydney–Denpasar.

The Garuda Indonesia Experience offers passengers a distinctive service concept, reaching out to 24 customer touch points at various stages of the journey, starting from pre-journey, pre-flight, in-flight, until post-flight and post-journey, through the five senses, namely, sight, sound, taste, scent, and touch.

Garuda Indonesia also won various other international awards, including the World’s Best Cabin Crew 2014 from Skytrax, the Gold Award for Amenity Kits products in the First Class Unisex and Business Class Unisex Asia/Oceania categories during the Airline Amenity Bag Award 2013. In addition, as a result of the airline’s ongoing transformation programme and service improvements, Garuda Indonesia was also nominated the winner in the Passenger Choice Awards 2014 for the Best in Region: Asia and Australasia category for two consecutive years from the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) – an association of businesses and professionals that creates, delivers, and manages the airline passenger experience. In 2013, Garuda won the Best in Region: Asia and Australasia award from APEX.
