Indonesia-based airline Garuda Indonesia received a Transportation Safety Award from the country’s transportation ministry.

The award is given to encourage transportation companies to improve passenger safety. Besides Garuda Indonesia, PT Kereta Api Indonesia Area Operation I Jakarta and state-owned bus operator Damri were awarded the second and third prizes for safety.

The scoring for the award was done by an independent team after taking into consideration several criteria, including the organisational (15 per cent contribution to the total score), human resource (40 per cent), facility (35 per cent), and safety management support (10 per cent) aspects.
