Abu Dhabi-based AI and cloud company G42 has signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement with a Vietnam-based consortium led by FPT Corporation and Viet Thai Group to build nationwide sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure in Vietnam.
Under the agreement, the partners will deploy large-scale cloud and AI computing capacity across three strategic data centre locations in Vietnam, delivering high-performance AI and cloud services for both public sector institutions and private enterprises. The initiative is supported by consumption commitments of up to USD1 billion, signalling one of the country’s largest AI infrastructure investments to date.
The project is designed to support Vietnam’s ambition to become an AI-native society and a regional AI hub in Southeast Asia, while ensuring data sovereignty, regulatory compliance, and digital resilience. It also aligns with Vietnam’s push to enable hyperscale data centres and accelerate public cloud adoption under its evolving digital and technology policy framework.
Beyond infrastructure deployment, the collaboration includes national AI skills development and workforce training programmes aimed at government bodies, industry players, and academic institutions. The partners said this would help build long-term domestic capabilities alongside physical infrastructure.
